Welcome to the website of St Marks Community Centre
Nestled in the heart of Widcombe, St Mark’s Community Centre offers the people of Bath an opportunity to gather, learn, nurture talent, keep fit, connect with nature and much more.
Originally built between 1830 and 1832, St Mark’s Church was deconsecrated in the 1970s and is now a Grade II listed building, along with the former cemetery, which has been transformed into a community garden for the residents of Bath.
As a registered charity, the management of the centre is overseen by trustees, who are either local residents or patrons. Our primary source of income for the upkeep of this Victorian building comes from commercial lettings. However, the trustees are mindful of the need to achieve the right balance between the centre operating as a commercial venue for hire and being a space available for social activities and not-for-profit groups.
As the building and community garden are owned by the St Mark’s Charity, our primary objective is to ensure that the centre remains financially viable, fit for purpose and an asset for future generations. We aim to achieve this through the continuous improvement and maintenance of the building and its grounds.
